✨ NexIQ
An AI-powered insights panel built directly into Nexshift. Ask plain-language questions about your operation and get answers based on your actual data — across production, quality, maintenance, safety, and batch traceability.
Overview
NexIQ is an AI assistant that has access to your Nexshift data. Instead of building reports or exporting spreadsheets, you can ask questions in plain English and receive answers drawn from your actual production, quality, maintenance, safety, and batch traceability records.
It is designed for manufacturing managers and company admins who need quick answers about their operation without having to dig through dashboards or run custom queries.
Ask questions the same way you would ask a colleague. No query syntax, no filters to configure — just type your question.
NexIQ answers based on your facility's actual records, not industry averages or generic benchmarks.
The NexIQ panel is available from every page in Nexshift via the floating button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Answers stream in as they are generated so you do not have to wait for the full response before reading.
Accessing NexIQ
Once NexIQ is enabled on your account, a ✨ NexIQ button appears in the top right area of the page header on every page. Clicking it opens the NexIQ panel as a slide-in overlay without leaving the page you are on.
You can type your question in the input at the bottom of the panel and press Enter or click Send. The response streams in above the input. You can ask follow-up questions in the same session and NexIQ will maintain context across the conversation.
What Data It Uses
NexIQ has read access to the last 12 months of data from your Nexshift account across all modules. All data is scoped to your company — NexIQ cannot access data from other companies.
| Data source | What NexIQ can see |
|---|---|
| Production | Completed runs, units produced, scrap, downtime events, OEE metrics, batch numbers, products, machines, operators, and shifts. |
| Quality | Quality check logs, pass/fail results, non-conformances, and Certificate of Analysis records. |
| Maintenance | Work orders, asset downtime events, PM schedules, and asset register details. |
| Safety | Incidents, hazards, inspections, induction records, and corrective actions. |
| Recipes & Batching | Recipes and their ingredients, bulk batches created in the last 12 months with full ingredient lists and supplier batch codes, simple log ingredient entries linked to production runs, and a full ingredient traceability index mapping each material and supplier batch code to every batch or run it appeared in. |
Example Questions
Here are some example questions to help you get started. These are organised by module but you can ask questions that span across modules too.
Capabilities and Limitations
Understanding what NexIQ can and cannot do helps you ask better questions and set the right expectations.
| Capability | Detail |
|---|---|
| ✓ Summarise and analyse data | NexIQ can aggregate, compare, and identify trends across your operational data. |
| ✓ Answer follow-up questions | NexIQ maintains context within a session so you can drill down without repeating yourself. |
| ✓ Identify top performers and outliers | Ask which machine, product, site, or shift is performing best or worst. |
| ✓ Compare time periods | Ask how this month compares to last month, or how this quarter tracks against the same period last year. |
| ✗ Enter or update data | NexIQ is read-only. It cannot create runs, log incidents, raise work orders, or change any records. |
| ✗ Predict the future | NexIQ answers questions about historical and current data. It does not generate forecasts or predictive models. |
| ✗ Access data older than 12 months | The data window is limited to the last 12 months. Questions about older records will not return results. |
| ✗ Access external data | NexIQ only has access to data within your Nexshift account. It cannot browse the internet or reference external sources. |
Tips for Better Results
Be specific about the time period
NexIQ responds better when you include a time frame. Instead of asking "What is our downtime?", ask "What was our downtime last month?" or "How much downtime did we have in Q1 2026?"
Name the machine, site, or product
If you are asking about a specific machine, product, or site, use its actual name as it appears in Nexshift. This avoids ambiguity and gives a more precise answer.
Ask for summaries first, then drill down
Start with a broad question to get an overview, then ask follow-up questions to explore specific areas. For example, ask "Give me a production summary for last week" and then follow up with "Which machine had the most downtime in that period?"
Context carries across a session
Within a single NexIQ session, you do not need to repeat context from earlier messages. If you established that you are asking about Line 1 at the Brisbane site, NexIQ will remember that for follow-up questions.
